The results of the 28th edition of the National Competition ‘Modernisation of the Year and Construction of the 21st Century’ were announced on 27 September 2024 during a ceremonial gala at the Royal Castle in Warszawa. The Investment Performer was represented by the President of the Management Board of INSTAL Warszawa S.A. Mr Andrzej Grygo and the Director of the Engineering Construction Division, responsible for the execution of the Investment, Mr Krzysztof Górlicki. Together with us the award statuettes were received by representatives of the Investor - Elbląskie Przedsiębiorstwo Wodociągów i Kanalizacji Sp. z o.o. in Elbląg, and the Designer - BPBK Wrocław sp. z o.o. in Wrocław, a member of the INSTAL Warszawa Capital Group.

The modernisation of the Elbląg wastewater treatment plant took approximately 4 years. The facility receives wastewater from the city of Elbląg and neighbouring municipalities. The capacity of the treatment plant is 165 000 p.e., Qrśrd=22 000 m3/d and Qmaxd= 42 000 m3/d. Approximately 300 suppliers and subcontractors supported us in the implementation. The gross value of the investment is approximately PLN 200 million.

Technological and functional highlights of the facility include:

- a modern sludge composting plant with a system of active aeration of compost prisms and a system for monitoring parameters of the sludge composting process;

- a modernised cogeneration unit with power generators powered by biogas produced during the sludge digestion process to produce electricity and heat for the plant's own needs;

- the installation of process water using treated wastewater for the rinsing process of the equipment operating at the treatment plant (grids, centrifuges).
